The Rooted Approach

Rooted Nutrition Coaching is built on the idea that performance and everyday health start with how we fuel. My approach focuses on practical, evidence-informed strategies to help athletes and active individuals optimize energy, recovery, and overall well-being.

I work with clients looking to improve training performance, manage weight safely for sport, support gut health, or simply build a healthier, more sustainable relationship with food.

This coaching is for anyone who wants guidance that fits real life... whether you’re competing, training for personal goals, or just wanting to feel stronger and more in control of your nutrition.

The goal is simple: help you fuel with purpose, recover well, and build habits that last.

Behind Rooted Nutrition Coaching

I was born halfway across the world and raised between two cultures. I learned early that food connects people. I grew up in a home where food meant connection and culture was kept alive through the way we cooked and shared meals. Meals were always fresh, simple and shared. My parents valued health and wellness long before it was trendy, and that shaped how I see food today: as both nourishment and a foundation for living well.

My sister and I traveled with our parents before I even learned my first word, and those early experiences sparked a curiosity about the world that has stayed with me. Traveling as an adult has only reinforced how important it is to keep learning, growing and stepping outside your comfort zone.

Training is a big part of who I am. I have been running and weight training for over twenty years, always looking for ways to encourage active lifestyles for people in all types of lives. I work to find realistic ways to balance family life, personal goals, and taking care of yourself. I raised three children alongside my husband, creating a supportive home where we valued movement, real food, emotional and spiritual connection, and balance in everyday life.

I found discipline in Muay Thai in 2014 and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2017, and I never looked back. I coach the women’s classes at Stratford BJJ in Stratford, Ontario, and continue to train regularly in both martial arts and strength work. Practicing what I teach allows me to test firsthand ways to optimize training, performance, and recovery

My interest in sports nutrition peaked when I noticed how many athletes would cut weight for competition in ways that left them drained, burned out and sometimes injured. I experimented with this myself during my early Muay Thai competitions and learned the hard way how much these extremes can affect focus, energy and performance. Over time, I discovered that it is possible to fuel the body for success without extremes and that balance almost always produces better results.

Nutrition also became personal when I started improving my own health and supporting my family’s through food. I’ve seen the power of nutrition in improving skin and gut health, energy, and overall wellbeing. I’ve also learned how small, consistent habits can create lasting change. Through all of it, one thing has remained constant: movement and nourishment are essential to health. That is what I want to share because I know how much it can change a life.

In 2011, I started a small microgreens business growing for local chefs. It slowed down around 2020, but I still grow for friends and family (reach out if you're interested!). That experience deepened my understanding of food as medicine... how nutrient-dense greens can help reduce inflammation, support gut health, balance hormone levels and even improve recovery and performance in athletes. It taught me just how powerful fresh, living foods can be in supporting both physical health and mental clarity.

I graduated with Honours in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, am also a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified Coach, and have dietetic internship experience in both Canada and the US. I’m also planning to pursue a Masters in Sports Nutrition to keep building on what I’ve learned through both study and experience. Beyond that, I continue to expand my knowledge through ongoing education, attending seminars and workshops on topics like functional medicine, gut and hormone health, sports performance nutrition, protein and muscle recovery and the connection between the gut microbiome and the brain.

I coach clients from all over the world through online sessions, available in English, Spanish or French. My work focuses on helping athletes improve performance, recovery, and body composition, including energy optimization, safe weight management for competition, and fueling for strength and endurance. I also support anyone looking to build or maintain an active lifestyle, offering guidance that fits real life. My goal is to help people find a sustainable balance between performance, health and everyday life.

Food is fuel, but it is also culture, memory and connection. My mission is simple: if we are going to work hard anyway, let it be toward something that truly matters. We’re always going to have to show up and push through, so it might as well be with purpose.

I see my work and life as pieces of a puzzle that I'm still putting together. Every experience, every client and every lesson adds another piece. Always learning, always growing and always chasing the next piece of that puzzle.
